that bit at the end of non-stop where all the major act one songs get reprised and the whole company does the thing where they stop singing their individual parts and harmonise on ‘history has its eyes on you’ with no music and then hamilton sings a reprise of my shot + alexander hamilton and it ends on him yelling “I AM NOT THROWING AWAY MY SHOT!” might be the most satisfying piece of theatre music to ever be written
okay but where is the lie
the very first time I listened to hamilton, when it got to this point I was in my car. I could kind of sense what was coming and I knew it was the Act 1 finale so I knew what they were going for
but then
when there were all the musical callbacks to all of Act 1
and then they all come in together
I legit teared up because I was emotional that there is such genius in the world.
not even exaggerating a little bit.
The hallmark feature of ADHD has always been the inconsistency. Inconsistent engagement, inconsistent performance, inconsistent moods, etc. Activities that were done beautifully yesterday are terribly done today. Usually this is presented in a very judgmental way that the person with ADHD is ‘flighty, unreliable, unpredictable, or intentionally not trying.’

This one is a never-ending source of anxiety for me because it means I can’t even rely on myself.

The most eye-opening thing a professor ever told me (though it hurt to hear it) was “You are all or nothing. You’re either giving me amazing work and commentary, or you’re not really even present in class.” This was said in concern, of course, not in contempt or admonishment. But that’s *exactly* how ADHD is. You’re either snapped to rapt attention, your brain flowing effortlessly, or so bored that you may as well be asleep, you’re so checked out. Inconsistency, even with things that you like, is ADHD.

i’m in this very odd bubble
like logically, i know i have a lot to do
but like, emotionally, i’m just.. not.. registering it??? i’m not so much calm but like.. standing in a sound proof fishbowl watching all of my obligations press their faces to the glass, yelling and knocking, and like, my homework and emails are teaming up to make a battering ram and my job is trying to tunnel under and i’m just standing here watching it all in muffled, deaf silence like “ok”

Man Of My Dreams
The rabbits are serving tea and glowing a merry shade of a blue. The man
at the fireplace is changing appearance with every breath. And he knows
exactly where to kiss John to get him hot and bothered.
Dreams are truly wonderful things.John Watson/John Watson. Explicit dream sex.
