#i love the use of color here #jack is the warm humanity to the doctor’s cold #and his words are a bright revelation #everything about him here is vibrantly alive #while the doctor’s face is blue and cold in shadow #i don’t know if it was deliberate #but here’s post-loss Doctor turning away from the light #and Jack with his newfound sense of purpose and identity in Torchwood turning into it #plus the light of revelation #and maybe it’s a symbol of how the Doctor’s holding to old judgments and jack is turning towards new ideas #idk maybe it’s just the director using some cool af lighting #but i love how light plays into film and looking at how i react to it (via jazzforthecaptain)
As a film student I’d say the lighting was probably deliberate. Film is about painting with light, and how a scene or characters is portrayed is heavily influenced by the way they’re lit. Even if it’s subconscious on the part of the audience, the way a character is lit or placed in a scene makes a big difference and I’d whole heartedly agree with your assessment here.
