timeywimeyness:

I see where you’re coming from, but it’s not the same, and I’ll tell you why.

First of all, there is no paradox holding Rose to the Doctor, no timey-wimey aspect that made her meet him or bound her to him. (Re: The crack in Amy’s wall that was the reason she met him in the first place, but also was created by him at the end of the same season, River’s being kidnapped and brainwashed into hating the Doctor, killing him because she “had to” because it had “already happened”, Clara only being found by the Doctor because he had already run into other versions of her, which led to said other versions being created in the first place in that weird, twisted paradox where “it has to happen because it already happened” again.) Rose met the Doctor through sheer accident (same and Martha and Donna). They became friends, they traveled together, there was no outside force MAKING this happen, making it “destined” to happen, saying it had to happen because it already had.

Rose had a life outside the Doctor. She had an ex-boyfriend, a mother she went back to constantly. Amy literally had no parents for a whole season, and then we only see them once at her wedding. River’s entire family ARE Amy and Rory, and that’s a whole mess of paradoxes that revolves around the Doctor again. Clara has a father that we never see or meet. She has two kids she babysits that we see her pop in on once in awhile, but that she has little shown emotional attachment with, to the point that when the world is ending, she doesn’t even mention them.

Rose and the Doctor fall in love. He becomes the most important person to her the way she’s the most important person to him, not because of outside influences or forces or paradoxes or lies and secrets, but because they’re two people who fall in love. And sometimes that’s what happens when you fall in love, that person becomes your everything.

Yes, in the very very END Rose gave up the possibility of being with her Mom to stay in the same dimension as the Doctor, but even then her life didn’t REVOLVE around him. She just chose him because she loved him and she thought that leaving him would hurt too much.
