So the idea is to pick a fic you wrote that didn’t get as much exposure as you would have liked, and to use the tag #forgotten fanfic friday. If you don’t write fanfic, but you read it, and you’ve read one that you would have liked to see get more exposure, go ahead and rec one.
I haven’t written a whole bunch, but here’s one of mine that I had a lot of fun writing, but didn’t seem to get much of a response.
This is a 5+1 fic, based on my headcanon that Bucky could actually be spectacularly clumsy more than most people expected (which was actually based off of Sebastian’s commentaries of walking into a fridge and falling off a car).
Have you seen the…? Oh. Stucky if you’re still doing it.
“Have you seen the….? Oh.” Steve stopped as he walked into the room and saw Bucky had his shirt off. He blushed and reached for it, but Steve quickly crossed the room. He could see where the metal arm was attached to the rest of his body, angry old scar tissue along the line.
“I know, it’s ugly,” said Bucky quietly.
“No it’s not. It’s part of you, and you aren’t ugly at all.” Steve tilted his chin and kissed him. They’d been moving forward together cautiously, but hadn’t really progressed past kissing and a little bit of touching.
Pulling away, Bucky looked up at him searching his face. “You got a body like a Greek God, and I got this thing.”
“And it’s fine, Bucky, it really is.” Steve sat next to him and took the metal hand in his.
Bucky flinched a little, but took a breath and leaned against his shoulder. Steve kissed the top of his forehead. He would take all the time Bucky needed.
“Can we pretend I didn’t just say that?” Steve/Bucky
“Can we pretend I didn’t just say that?” Bucky looked down at his shoes.
Steve got up and crossed the room, sitting next to him. “This doesn’t change anything. It’s always been me and you, right down the line.”
Bucky raised his head and looking into Steve’s steady blue eyes. Cautiously he touched Steve’s hand. He started to jerk it back; it was his left, after all.
Steve wrapped his hand around Bucky’s, never dropping his gaze. “When I woke up here, I never thought I’d find anyone I could really be with. I wish you hadn’t gone through all of that, I wish things were different, and better. But I’m here, Bucky.” Reaching out he brushed a strand of long hair from his face. “And I feel the exact same way.”
um so i don’t know if people are generally aware of the lyrics to the song in the background of this scene (that the pub patrons & howling commandos trail off from singing in the face of peggy’s red-hotness) but
thanks for yet another blow to the heart
