My favorite part of the whole holiday special is that, somewhere in Sherlock’s mind, he truly believes Lestrade would help him dig a 120 year old grave for no actual reason.

George is someone who can be relied upon.

I don’t think they get on very well, Sherlock and Mycroft. I think there’s a very strong bond there, which expresses itself in odd ways. Mycroft is actually very caring of Sherlock. He’s actually, ah- given that he’s a reptilian sociopath, he’s actually very caring about his brother. He does try to look after him, try to look out for him. Try to gather him in to the family and, and to the establishment that is so important to Mycroft. Uh, I know he genuinely loves his brother, Mycroft. He actually says it, although slightly drugged. He does actually say that it would break his heart if anything happened to Sherlock.

And although Sherlock professes absolutely nothing but loathing and disdain for his older brother, he also absolutely rock hard knows his brother will always be there for him and always look after him. And that’s a different way of expressing love, actually. That’s a different way of saying ‘I know that person will never let me down.’ You never pay anybody a higher compliment, whatever else you say about them, when you say ‘I know they will never let me down’.

The Holmescest shipper in me had to giggle happily at the line “And although Sherlock professes absolutely nothing but loathing
and disdain for his older brother, he also absolutely rock hard knows
his brother will always be there for him

I love how Sherlock feels that important data to keep on his “hard drive” is exactly what officers’ uniforms looked like during the second Afghan war

I’m still not over the fact that, even in his mind palace, when Mary takes John away:

image

Sherlock knows that Lestrade and Mycroft will stay:

image

And Lestrade will get into it with him, get his hands dirty, work just as hard as he is:

image

And Mycroft will shine a light on everything:

image

Because at the end of the day, while he wants John Watson, needs him. These two have always had his back and always will:

It’s brotherly love but in two entirely different ways. Sherlock is so lucky to have these two. (Obviously John too but he’s been dragged away by Mary!)
