science side of Tumblr explain why the ride home always takes less time

The ride home takes less time because you already have memories of the locations you passed on the way there. When you take in a new memory your brains “slows down” to process it and write as much information as possible. When you’ve already experienced something it doesn’t have as much to remember.

wait so is time essentially an illusion??

Yes.

yeah im sorry i dont need this right now it’s 10pm i’m procrastinating studying for a final and i just need you to stop there for a sec if that’s okay with you

A lot of people conceptualize their period as their uterus having a tantrum about there being no baby. I used to do that, too.

Then I found this article about why we menstruate and I realized that’s not what’s going on.

It’s actually my uterus saying, “Look, you don’t want a baby this month. I certainly don’t want a damn baby this month. We’re going to make damn sure there’s no baby this month even if I have to nuke the site from orbit.”

And I think that’s beautiful.

science side of tumblr, why does the human body send itself into shock and close airways if someone eats a peanut. why does the body think its a good idea like yes not breathing will solve this

Because the body is stupid as hell,

It’s basically the same reason that your nose runs when and gets stuffy during allergy season. The body makes anti histamines because much like trying to throw up food poisoning the body’s solution to toxins tends to be an all or nothing approach.

In all likelyhood the peanut oil would do nothing to your body, but the Anti Histimines see it like a severe infection so they attempt to seal off it’s way of getting into the body.

Anti-Histimines don’t have to consult with the brain on their choices so all they are worried about is what they have to deal with. The brain who never got consulted on this matter doesn’t know it’s choking because the anti-histamines are fucking troglodytes who don’t know how to fill out paperwork and so doesn’t know to release the chemical (which we store in shots) called

Epinephrine

Now

Epinephrine is the body’s fight or flight mechanic so when it shows up on the scene, anyone else working there has to fuck off and

Epinephrine gets priority.

thank u science side of tumblr

the stereotype that women talk more than men is infinitely amusing to me because men are literally incapable of shutting the fuck up

i hope this post gets popular enough that i hurt a man’s feelings

It’s not a stereotype it’s a proven fact you femanazi piece of shit.

lmao there it is

You wanna talk proven facts? This shit’s been done, son: researcher Dale Spencer in Australia used audio and video tape to independently evaluate who talked the most in mixed-gender university classroom discussions. Regardless of the gender ratio of the students, whether the instructor was deliberately trying to encourage female participation or not, men always talked more—whether the metric was minutes of talking or number of words spoken.

Moreover, men literally have no clue how much they talk. When Spencer asked students to evaluate their perception of who talked more in a given discussion, women were pretty accurate; but men perceived the discussion as being “equal” when women talked only 15% of the time, and the discussion as being dominated by women if they talked only 30% of the time.

Spencer’s conclusion, if I may parahprase: you only think we talk too much because you’d rather we were silent.

Don’t fuck with me, asshole, I’m a scientist.
