“He’s dead, let’s move on.” Sam/Gabriel (yes I’m horrible)
Gabriel grabbed Sam’s arm. “He’s dead, let’s move on.”
Sam tried to pull away, only to find that he might as well try to budge a planet.
“We promised we’d help him.”
“And we tried, Kiddo. We can’t help him now.”
Sam turned his head at the note of resignation in Gabriel’s voice. The angel met his eyes.
“We can still solve this case.” Sam’s voice was as steely as Gabriel’s grip.
After another moment of studying his eyes, Gabriel gave a short nod. “Okay.”
Sam smiled at him and this time Gabriel let go of his arm.
Sabriel, “Can I skip dinner and go right for dessert?”
Sam got the door of the restaurant for Gabriel. The angel had promised to try a normal date, just the two of them. As they were seated Gabriel eyed the dessert cart. “Can I skip dinner and go right for dessert?”
“No. Normal date.” Sam touched his foot under the table.
Gabriel rolled his eyes, but picked up the menu. Sam leaned across the table and kissed him. “I’ll make dessert worth it, I promise.”
“You better, Sammich.”

and then the story itself evolves until these characters make so much sense, they’ve come to life together in ways that no one could have expected, and suddenly there’s no option but for them to be together
not because of a script or a plot but because of pure chemistry and character development and the natural forces that create real-world relationships too. love isn’t scripted.

Dean started another mindless lap around the table in the bunker library. “…So, uh, he’s fine now, but if you wanted to check up on him, you can pop by whenever–”
A sudden crackle in the air startled him out of his casual prayer. Dean turned, directly into a facefull of seething archangel.
“Why didn’t you call me earlier?” Gabriel growled. His brows were set dangerously low, and Dean could feel the hair on his neck prickling as he involuntarily took a step backward.
“I wasn’t there, some woman found him unconscious and called an ambulance–”
Gabriel vanished in another sharp crack before he could finish.
