About Time: a movie about love. With a bit of time travel.

What if every moment in life came with a second chance? John has the incredible ability to travel through time.
He can relive any moment in his life to try things differently until he gets them perfectly right.

For John it was always going to be all about love.

Anyone: *flirts with Sherlock*
John: hi, I’m John, I was in the army, I could break you in two right now, why don’t you go find somewhere else to be
Sherlock : *surprise boner*

Do you ever just look at Sherlock posts like, “this shit isn’t even edited, this is just the fucking show. And if that’s not pining and/or eye fucking, I don’t know what is”

Kinda like my friend set out to make an S3 video and it ended up being pretty Johnlock, without even trying to.

Closeted John Watson and the Introduction of BBC Sherlock’s Queer Theme

you-keep-me-right-jw:

image

In ASIP, John Watson is shown in front of a line of (closed) closets while talking about his trust issues to his therapist Ella, reading her writing upside down. Symbolism is strong in Sherlock. And the colour of John’s jumper even coordinates with the closet doors’ wallpaper. In other words (or in another upside down reading), John is coded as a closeted man! We then hear the Sherlock opening titles which combine John’s chords with Sherlock’s theme, confirmed to be of a “slightly off-kilter quality” by Mark Gatiss himself.

image

Our very first look at Sherlock is upside down, referencing the earlier scene in Ella’s office.

‘Upside down’ and ‘off-kilter’ are synonymous for ‘queer’. A connection is drawn from John Watson to Sherlock Holmes that literally and figuratively spells it out: QUEER. That’s the theme of the show. We were told….

we all know john and sherlock are gonna kiss, but consider this: kiss scene bloopers.

*SLAMS REBLOG*

Their noses bump. Ben bursts into hysterical giggles. Martin sighs and crosses his arms, waiting patiently (in character) for Ben to stop. Finally he says, “Are you nearly done, sweetheart?”

They have another go, but as soon as their lips touch, Ben has to sneeze. He pulls away quickly, apologizing all the way. Martin sits this time.

They get it going at last. Without thinking, Ben’s hands drift to Martin’s butt. Martin is caught off guard and breaks the kiss. “Oi–buy me dinner first! Bloody cheek!”

Martin tries something different in the next take–a little moan. This time, Gatiss (who is just off camera with headphones on) bursts out laughing. Martin throws his hands up in despair.

They try again, but they just can’t get coordinated. Hands are at cross purposes and heads are tilting in the same direction. As they both try to correct, the head bobbing becomes comical and Martin starts spontaneously break-dancing. Ben follows suit. Someone on the crew finds music and turns it up.

Sue calls lunch.

Finally, two hours later, it all just *clicks* They kiss so softly, so passionately and so beautifully that when they finally part to gaze at each other, there is utter silence in the room for several minutes afterward. You can hear a pin drop until finally Kevin (the new grip) just kind of wheezes and blurts out “Well, fuck me.”

you know what’s great about johnlock? here are these two guys who are misfits into middle age but they still find each other

they’re in their late thirties, early forties by the time they figure it out and so many stories have this First Love True Love thing where it’s like oh shit! the love of my life! and on my eighteenth birthday, too! but that’s not johnlock. johnlock is hard fucking work. johnlock is a struggle. johnlock is a having to reevaluate who they are as people. johnlock is having to make sacrifices, and not always loving every single little thing about your partner, and getting mad and angry and frustrated and frankly totally grossed out sometimes

but like…it’s going to be worth it, you know? John will be like forty-five fuckin years old giving butterfly kisses to Sherlock over the breakfast table. Sherlock is gonna be forty-one years old throwing a fit because someone insulted his blog and John laughed because what, it was funny, but then still curling up with him and making sure he knows how brilliant John thinks he is and how much John loves him despite his very boring blog. they will always always always find their way back to each other and the fact that they had to really, really fuck up with themselves and with each other to get there is so so important. it takes them so much time and so much effort but in the end it still pays off. it’s not too late, even now. it’s still going to end with them in each other’s arms. together in 221B.

that’s the beauty of johnlock.
