If you’re into space stuff, or history or both, I’d highly recommend “The Last Man on the Moon”, a doc about Gene Cernan. It’s on Netflix. Beautifully shot, beautifully edited and a fascinating story.

“Don’t ever count yourself out. You’ll never know how good you are unless you try. Dream the impossible and go out and make it happen. I walked on the moon. What can’t you do?”

“There’s a million things I haven’t done, but just you wait,” is one of the signature lines of the show, uttered several times by Miranda. I can’t think of any recent book, movie, play or other work that celebrates ambition, hard work and accomplishment as unironically and infectiously as “Hamilton” does. Every time I listen to the cast recording I start making plans and resolutions to accomplish great things. Sometimes I even get working on them. You go spend your money on a Stephen Covey book or a David Allen seminar. I’ll just listen to “Hamilton” again.

‘Hamilton’ Makes Me Want to Be Great (Bloomberg View)

Seriously. Every time I hear “Non-Stop” I feel super guilty because I don’t write like I’m running out of time.

Before Sherlock was a detective, he went to school, he had to learn about crime and forensics.

Before John was a doctor, he had to go to medical school.

Before the doctor could fly the TARDIS, he had to learn how.

Before Harry Potter was a great wizard, he had to learn all the spells.

Before Hermione learned all her great knowledge, that saved her and her friends lives so many times, she had to read about it all.

Before Merlin was a great sorcerer, he had to learn to control and advance his powers.

Before Arthur was a knight, he had to train and learn how to fight.

All these amazing characters most likely didn’t just become amazing from the very second they were born. They had to learn, they had to go to school, had to study and read.

One day you’ll be amazing too. Just like all of them. If you do your homework, study, go to school, one day it will all pay off.

One day it’ll be your turn.

Go study.
