Well Doctor Who. I now have a headache and I must admit I am quite intrigued to see where this is going next week.
Why are protagonists so durable…
Unimportant secondary character:
*gets violently thrown against a car*
*dies tragically*Main character:
*gets violently thrown against a car*
“Hoo boy I’m gonna be feelin that in the mornin.”And this is one of the reasons Clara thought she’d be fine, that the risk was worth taking. Because protagonists don’t die, and she has always seen herself as the protagonist of the story.
And she thought rightly. The companion’s the real protagonist of Who in its modern iteration. She just didn’t foresee being in a show that’s all about constantly destroying everything that it is to be reborn again.
Anyway, I desperately need a meta Clara story of her directly seeing herself in Doctor Who sometime (and having an existential crisis at not being the title character). Probably involving Jane Austen, because authory bi goodness.
I feel like Frobisher should come travel with the Twelfth doctor because a) good lord can we please have Twelve interacting with a giant penguin and also b) The part of me that watched Torchwood really wants Twelve to travel with someone named Frobisher.
The Dr. Who cast and crew sing the Proclaimers’ “500 Miles”.
(Three and a half minutes of pure unalloyed joy. Watch out for the Adipose, and the Proclaimers themselves.)
Oh man, imagine how guilty the Doctor’s going to feel. Clara saved him so many times, even getting him to save his own people, and yet he couldn’t save her from a trap sprung by them.
The Doctor is going to be terrifying.
…THERE WILL BE NO REVENGE. DO NOT INSULT MY MEMORY.
I sure hope not.
He won’t get violent, yeah. He cares too much about her to disobey her last request. However, he will get quite emotional, and I think that will be terrifying. From the snippets we’ve seen of Heaven Sent– digging a grave, facing a painting of her, being pursued by a monster through his castle/prison– I think it’s safe to say it’s going to very deeply effect him. And though he may not try to blow the lot of them up, I think it’s safe to say here will be dark words and darker thoughts.
