I’m not okay with what happened to Jack’s wrist strap in the Fiftieth Anniversary episode. So I made up a reason for WHY it was there, and then I fixed it.

Warning: Slightly spoilery for the Fiftieth Anniversary episode of Doctor Who.

No pairings

Jack tried not to fidget, keeping his hands firmly on the rocks glass in front of him and not on his empty wrist. Two years without the thing, and he still felt the vortex manipulator’s absence. Jack didn’t know all of what was happening out there without him, but he knew enough. That was why he chose this backwater bar, because it led the Doctor to him once, and maybe it would again.

The time dribbled away like the bright red cocktail Jack fenced with his fingers. He focused on the rounds of ice as they slowly shrank, rifling back and back through his memories, some darkened, some shining still. It mattered that the Doctor still needed him, even if only a little part of him.

also i’m laughing at the thought of jack leaving the vortex manipulator to unit upon ‘one of’ his deaths

because i’ve just got the mental image of jack creating a new will every time, and it gradually gets more ridiculous

like eventually he gets killed on a mission and they open up the newest one and it’s like

“to gwen i leave the contents of my shelf in the communal fridge, whatever it currently is”

“to owen i leave the stack of porn mags i bought yesterday on a whim”

“to tosh i leave this usb drive i filled with cat videos from youtube on a slow day”

“to ianto i leave the jar of lube, or permission to use the petty cash to buy a new jar of lube”
