12, 13?

12. Ideas of a perfect date: Really for me it would be going out and doing something interesting. Like a museum or a hike or something like that.

13. Life goal(s): To figure out a way to get paid a living wage doing what I love. i.e. writing, mostly. Somewhere on this computer I have a list of 100 things I want to do before I die, but really that’s the most important thing.

7, 17, 19

7. Biggest turn off(s): If we’re talking in general, smoking is a big ew for me. Not listening when I’m trying to explain something makes me nuts. But overall I’m pretty easy going.

17. A fact about my life: My favorite random fact about myself is I graduated elementary school twice. I graduated at the end of 5th grade, moved cross country and then graduated at the end of 6th grade.

19. Middle name: Marie. Which I’m pretty sure is the most common white girl middle name of my age group or so.

Apparently we’ve decided that not only am I friendly as a puppy, but I am also a Barrowman-level extrovert.

(I apologize in advance to everyone I’ll be meeting at Sherlock Seattle)

was tagged by distaffgospels (hi there!) in one of those question things. So after you answer 11 questions, you tag 11 people and make up 11 NEW questions of your own. So, here are my answers to her questions:

1. If you could live anywhere in the world, where would it be and why?

I haven’t traveled all that much. But I’d probably go back to the Pacific Northwest if I could live anywhere.

2. One food you hated as a kid that you really like now.

Um. Sweet potatoes? Still not my favorite, but I’d refuse to eat it at all as a kid

3. Member of which fandom(s)?

Oh geeze, well, I’ll probably miss something here, but: Sherlock, Torchwood, Doctor Who, Supernatural (a little), superwood, star trek a bit…

4. Preferred genre of music?

Depends on my mood. I probably go more pop though.

5. Have you ever written fan fiction? Do you post it for others to see?

HAHAAHHAHA. I mean, uh yeah. A…..couple things…. it’s here.

6. Accomplishment you are proudest of?

Graduating boot camp, probably. Or self-publishing my own book.

7. Why did you join Tumblr?

I actually started off with UFYH, but I really got into it with Doctor Who and probably awabubbles and then jazzforthecaptain.

8. What languages to you speak?

English. And a teensy bit of Spanish (I read better then I speak it)

9. If you could choose to be really good at something (that you aren’t good at now), what would it be? Why?

10. Most interesting cross-fandom ship?

My favorite cross fandom ship is probably Harkstiel. Or you know, superwood.

11. If you could have dinner tonight at any kind of restaurant, what would you choose?

Hmmmm. I just did a bunch of cooking out a French cookbook, so maybe french?

Allright, 11 more questions, this is always the hard part for me:

  1. Top 3 favorite fanfics (or books, I guess)?
  2. If you could only watch one episode of your favorite show, what would it be?
  3. What children’s movie traumatized you the most?
  4. Mountains, Beach, Forest or Prairie?
  5. Give me a song I probably haven’t heard but should.
  6. What’s your go to feel good movie?
  7. I’m coming over to your house for dinner. What are we having?
  8. Cat person, dog person or other?
  9. What celebrity or actor would you most like to hang out with.
  10. What kind of cell phone do you have?
  11. Favorite subject as school?

K, and I’m tagging themadkatter13, conductoroftardislight, guixonlove, beautifullyheeled, jazzforthecaptain

Meet the Sherlock fandom! 10 fics that have stayed with you

Rules: In a text post, list ten FICS that have stayed with you in some way. Don’t take but a few minutes, and don’t think too hard — they don’t have to be the “right” works, or even all the same pairing or fandom, just the fics that have touched you or that stuck with you somehow. Tag ten friends, including me, so I’ll see your list. Make sure you let your friends know you’ve tagged them!

Thankfully I don’t have so many bookmarks, so let’s see what I’ve got here. And you might notice some odd pairings/things I haven’t really written. Just because I like reading it on occasion doesn’t mean I can necessarily write it, all depends:

Torquay Arms by ChasingRiver

Holmsect and a bit of Mystrade, the first part is Mycroft and Sherlock running a BDSM b&b where Greg stays as a guest, then it goes into how they got there. This is also where I picked up my habit of calling him My.

The Power of the Alpha by VincentMeoblinn

Omegaverse, Lestrade runs the largest pack in London. I don’t love every pairing and everything in this fic, but it’s one I’ve reread a few times

Brief Interlude Before The Storm by tiger_in_the_flightdeck

Probably the first ACD holmes/watson I’d read. It’s bittersweet and hot and what more could you want?

The Slow Burn by CaitlinFairchild

Johnlock, hot as hell and lives up to the title. This is the kind of fic I’d love to write, but well, just read this one.

Desperate Measures by SailorChibi

John/Sherlock/Mycroft. Mycroft rather gets what’s coming to him when he attempts to force Sherlock and John along in their relationship.

To Feel Your Touch by Shellysbees

Star!John, again, sad and sweet, but a wonderful tale.

A Delicate Situation by dorothydonne

Omegaverse John/Mycroft. Pretty much just porn.

A Beginner’s Guide to Apiology. by VictoryCandescence

You probably know this one. John and Sherlock meet as old men. I cried so hard, this might have been the fic that made stop reading angst alltogether.

I’d Arrest You if I Had Handcuffs by taylorpotato

This is the one that made me consider sherstrade. And pretty much every kink you can think of.

A Marriage of Convenience by Phuchka

I don’t do regency romance. I fell hard for this one. Johnlock, Omegaverse and Regency Romance.

So there we go. Feel like I’m letting my freak flag fly a bit, but hey, I read a lot of different stuff. Though lately I haven’t had time to read much. I’m tagging dvancecinco, willietheplaidjacket and uh, whoever else wants to that hasn’t done it

If you don’t know your personality type, take the test here.

Rules: Find out what characters share the same personality type as you here and list the characters that you find relevant below. Then tag some friends and let them know you tagged them!

I think I tend to come out either enfj or enfp, this time I came out with the P, and yeah, this is pretty accureate:

ENFPs like to change things for the better, and have contagious enthusiasm, but no patience for crossing I’s and dotting T’s. They are good at anticipating others’ needs, but crave attention and recognition.

Obviously I cut that list down. Mostly to people I know. Interesting that I’m apparently Pinkie Pie and Anakin Skywalker. Lol. I guess that’s the good side and the dark side right there. Also possibly Starfleet Captain material.

Allright so I’m gonna tag themadkatter13, guixonlove, jazzforthecaptain, willietheplaidjacket, youknownothingmomsnow and reclusiveq

Since today is Aviation Day, let me tell you about my Dad:

My dad loves planes and flying. He got his (small plane) pilot’s license at 16, but since had bad eyesight he knew he’d never be a pilot professionally, so he went to school and got a certificate in aircraft maintenance. This was back in the day when that was all you needed. He bounced around for a while at a couple companies, ending up at LearJet where he met my mom. in 1982 he got on with Northwest Airlines as a mechanic, and stayed there until retiring in about 2005 or so.

But fixing planes wasn’t just his job, it fueled his hobby. My Dad has always belonged to one flying club or another, trading his mechanic skills for flight time. I remember my first time in a Cessna when I was maybe four or five. We’d frequently fly down to St. Louis to visit family, cause hey, 2 hours in a small plane beats the hell out of flying standby on commercial. We spent so much time at the St. Cloud airport as kids that I joke that we half grew up on a tarmac. When we moved cross country from Minnesota to Washington he traded in powered small planes for gliders.

And that wasn’t just weekends. I’ve been to more airshows then I can count. We flew or went to Oshkosh air show a number of times. When we took a family vacation to Disney we also attended an airshow in Orlando that was going on at the same time. Planes and flying was just part of our lives growing up. I’ve seen the Concorde, SR-71 Blackbird, lots of things. The one time we made it to DC when I was a kid, the only museum we went to was the Air and Space museum.

And that interest trickled down to us kids. My brother and I both took glider lessons for a while, though I never did get my license (i don’t remember if my brother did). Getting a pilot’s license is still on my bucket list though.

Now that my dad is in his 60s, he’s still flying. In the last couple of years he got an instructor rating, so he gives lessons too.

One of my favorite memories is when we went to the big island of Hawaii when I was a teen, my Dad rented a plane and we flew over Kilauea volcano.

So, uh, I guess he short version is my Dad is kinda awesome 🙂

Hydrangea: Starbucks order? Daffodil: What’s the most thoughtful present you’ve ever received? Amsonia: Would you ever become a vegan?

Daffodil: What’s the most thoughtful present you’ve ever received? Amsonia: Would you ever become a vegan?

Daffodil: That’s hard, actually. Hubby is really good at giving presents. But I can’t think off the top of my head. Maybe the violin he gave me one year ‘cause he knows I’ve always wanted to learn.

Amsonia: I’ve thought about it. But I really like chicken. And bacon.

  • Dandelion:Do you think you’re important?

Sometimes. I know I’m important to some people, so there’s always that.
