harkstiel; “This one’s on me.”

“This one’s on me.” Jack raised his head at the familiar voice. Castiel set the drink in front of him and took a seat.

Jack gave him a tired smile and sipped it. “What are you doing out here?”

Instead of answering, Castiel reached across and took his free hand, watching his face.

Looking away, Jack kept drinking until it was gone. “I had to,” he said quietly. “If I hadn’t, a lot more people would have died.”

“I didn’t come here to judge you,” said Castiel gently, squeezing his hand.

Jack finally dragged his eyes back to the angel. “I know, and I’m grateful.”

Watching him, Castiel leaned forward and planted a chaste kiss on his lips. Jack smiled and kissed him back, a little less chastely.
