its really weird to see all these articles about how people who have ADHD have sleeping problems but the issue I have is that if you look at it as a matter of your circadian rythym being out of sync? of COURSE you’re not going to be able to sleep. we don’t say people who can’t fall asleep at 4 pm and sleep 8 hours have insomnia, because that’s not a normally agreed upon time to sleep and its not your bodies time to sleep. if you tell someone to go to bed at 10 and they can’t sleep till 3 am sometimes in just not insomnia. people with ADHD are often wired to sleep from 4 am to 12 pm ish because of the delayed onset of melatonin but if you let us go to bed at the time we need? most of us actually sleep pretty well and consistently.

So I’m actually trained in therapy for addressing insomnia and one of the things we learned is that a good chunk of sleep problems are societal disorders – as in they WOULDN’T EXIST as problems if society didn’t assume everyone was on the same circadian rhythm and that being up and working 9-5 was mandatory/normal. Blew my mind and made so much sense. You are not the problem, society is literally the problem.

it also stresses me out when vampires just bite someone and they blood ALL over the place and the vampire has their mouth on the bite for like ONE SECOND then comes away COVERED in blood and drops the person to the floor and then they go and kill like 2 MORE PEOPLE LIKE!!!!

imagine if you went out with your friend and bought a can of pepsi, shook it up real good, opened it, and just let it fuckin’ rip directly into your face for a good ten seconds with your mouth wide open, then dropped the can of whatever’s left on the floor and were like “damn….if only I didn’t need 5 cans of pepsi a day to get my fix.”

Vampires are starting to piss me off

Humans can replenish a pint a month and vampires don’t care about blood type or diseases, they’re digesting it not hooking it into their own veins. They could totally find a large sample size of people who are prevented from giving blood but can still replace their own blood and just safely draw a pint from each every month. Hell they could over feed to prevent the hunger pangs being a risk. They could justify that cost to their sheep by using their awesome vampire abilities and lifetime of knowledge to help them out.

Like a vampire who invests wisely buys a large block of flats for like victims of  abuse or students with no money or whatever and it’s just like. “My only rent is a pint of blood a month. I won’t do anything kinky and I will destroy anyone who messes with you.”

Visual exhaustion is another symptom of ADHD, which means that if we see something enough times (or we see enough instances of something), it fades into background noise and we fail to notice it.

This is why a lot of ADHD people can stand living surrounded by mess/clutter, because it’s just visual background noise to us. We don’t even notice it anymore.

So if we write something down and see the note stuck up somewhere a lot – or if we write a LOT of somethings down and have a lot of notes hanging around – then we’re even less likely to think of/remember the thing because it’s just part of the scenery now.

ADHD is the Catch-22 of brains.

A very good thing to know about ADHD. Don’t fall into the trap.

A lot of folks in the comments are talking about writing on themselves or setting phone/calendar reminders. Your mileage may vary on those. You may also want to consider ways to set a habit of referring back to a planner or similar every day/hour.
