Space is disease and danger wrapped in darkness and silence.
This is the exact moment when I knew the casting for AOS was about as perfect as they could get it without time traveling back to 1970 and stealing the original actors.
wheres that story about the D&D guy who plays as a bear and has really good disguises and no one knows its a bear and he becomes king and everyone falls for it except one person who rolls for perception and he goes THATS A FUCKING BEAR and gets kicked out of the kingdom
In case you’ve missed it, there’s a HUMBLE BUNDLE going on, for charity, of my rare and (in some cases) absolutely unobtainable books, at https://www.humblebundle.com/books. You can get them as ebooks, DRM free, in whatever format you want, for the next ten days. Then it’s done. Pay whatever you want (as little as a dollar) for 4 books, $15 for another 5 including my Duran Duran biography from 1983, and “Above the average” for about a dozen other things (9 are up on the screen now, but you’ll be able to access the others when they come out in a few days).
The average was expected to be, as with all other Humble Bundles, somewhere between almost nothing and the top level. Instead it’s above the average, and creeping up, because you people are so very cool.
It supports the cbldf and The Moth Educational Program (and all the money I get from it goes directly into the Gaiman Foundation, which Does Good). You can decide how much of the money you pay in goes where.
Ten days left. Then the stuff goes back into my basement, probably mostly for good. And the sooner you get in the lower the average is going to be.
Tiger’s response today is brought to you by the letter W, for what the fuck?
You didn’t miss anything in the books, don’t worry. He doesn’t visit female prostitutes for his sexual needs.
That sounds like the kind of shitty, slap dash deductions that come from the Baker Street Irregulars. The people that claim that Holmes was in love with Trevor’s little sister, and that she married a couple days before they were supposed to get married. Despite having never, you know, met Trevor’s sister before she died…
Basically, any sort of deduction or meta that involves talking about Holmes sleeping with females of any profession end with me rolling my eyes so hard that I swear I can see the back of my orbital sockets.
It’s one thing to make inferences about the things that aren’t said. It’s something else entirely to completely ignore the things that are. “It’s written that he’s not in love with her? Oh, well, let’s ignore that!”
On more than one occasion, it’s stated that Holmes is not interested in women. Either through the narrative, or Holmes’ own words. Whether that means he’s homosexual, or asexual, it’s plain and simple that the fair sex is not his department. He may as well have No Gurlz Alloud tacked up on a sign on their door.
The man spends a good deal of time with his best friend in Turkish bath houses. I think it’s fairly safe to say that if he had to take care of his sexual needs, they would be well in hand.
