So, one of my great pains in life is that there are 90340 bad film adaptations of Hounds, and I’ve only come across five film versions of Holmes’ and Watson’s meeting. (“Five?” you say. Yes. Counting Elementary, Great Mouse Detective, the Soviet series, Young Sherlock Holmes, and BBC).

I would do terrible things for a Victorian, English speaking (THE RUSSIAN ONE IS AMAZING THOUGH) meet cute, preferably with Study in Scarlet (Peter Cushing’s is set in the middle of their partnership, agony!).

This is one of the agonies I’ve had to suffer through, too. I think the biggest problem is that they were so young when they first met, that by the time most actors get around to playing Holmes and Watson, they’re already well into their thirties or forties.

That being said, can you imagine if Granada had managed to do Study in Scarlet age appropriate meet cute?

  1. Congratulations to my dear friend and co-conspirator in so many things, Felicia Day, on the announcement of her upcoming book!
  2. I sat…
