23) If you were to revise one of your older fics from start to finish, which would it be and why?

Oh that’s a tough one. I mean all my fics I’m pretty happy with. Night Hymns I know I could do better now, but it stands fine as it is and I can see how much I’ve grown as a writer in relation.

28) Share three of your favorite fic writers and why you like them so much.

Oh geeze, so many good writers… Okay here’s three,, then:

tiger-in-the-flightdeck – I never read ACD before Tiger. She also introduced me to Granada Holmes and Raffles and Bunny, so she’s pretty awesome and darn her stuff is hot. Plus random Great Mouse Detective smut.

themadkatter13 My ofttimes writing partner and her solo stuff is pretty damn awesome too.

reclusiveq Stucky isn’t a huge ship for me, but I like everything she writes and it’s so very, very good.

and I’m gonna add a bonus one here in guixonlove because she does a great job getting me interested in characters I don’t know well and giving them distinct personalities. Plus hotness.

8) Share a snippet from one of your favorite dialogue scenes you’ve written and explain why you’re proud of it:

Oh there’s a lot of stuff I’m proud of, lemme look…

Okay I think I have to go with this exchange in chapter 2 of Who picks up the Pieces. It’s post-Reichenbach Mystrade, with Greg trying be there for Mycroft. Mycroft’s just had a nightmare, when Greg confronted him he actually punched him. So they’re talking about Sherlock here:

It was plain to Greg that there was more there, secrets Mycroft was keeping. But he knew better than to push or ask. “But you still lost him. Sherlock still jumped off that roof.”

Mycroft looked towards the fire. “Do you know how many times I expected him to turn up dead when he was using? That brilliant mind of his and he was burning it up. He knew I kept an eye on him, but there were still times he gave my people the slip. And the more I pushed him to get clean, the greater he resented me.”

Greg moved towards him. “All of that and this was how he ended up,” he said softly, biting back the ‘I’m sorry’ that sounded shallow even in his own mind.

Mycroft nodded. “I remember when he was brought home from hospital as a newborn,” he said to the fireplace. “So small. They didn’t want me to hold him, afraid I would drop him. I promised I never would.”

Reaching Mycroft, Greg to took the glass from his hand, watching the man who was his lover and his friend. “I know, it’s not fair.”

I guess I like it because that’s just how I see I see the Mycroft/Sherlock relationship. “They didn’t want me to hold him, afraid I would drop him. I promised I never would.”

24) Have you ever deleted one of your published fics?

Considered it, but I haven’t done. It’s out there, it’s out there. The closest I came to it was I posted one, realized it needed work, did a complete re-write and replaced the previous text (the tentacle monster/jack one, for the record).

31) Do you take liberties with canon or are you very strict about your fic being canon compliant?

*looks at giant pile of AU fics* I have no problem playing with canon. What’s important to me is that the spirit of the characters are true. It doesn’t matter if it’s set on the Moon or they meet in a bar, it’s the characters that are important. If anything, restricting myself too close to canon comes out stifling to me.

38) Talk about a review that made your day.

I love all of my reviews. Seriously, those of you that leave reviews always make my day. The first one that pops in my head on this question though is a review I got on my Sabriel fic that said that I made them feel not so alone and better about themselves that other people liked the same things. And that was on a pwp fic too, so, really unexpected.
