And now I’m thinking about Martha meeting Cas and how good she’d be with him. She would treat him like a friend and even slyly flirt with him just to get a rise out of Jack, and in turn Cas makes more jokes that make her laugh hard no matter how terrible or corny they can be. They trade stories frequently – Cas tells Martha about the Tower of Babylon falling and in turn Martha talks about her time in UNIT.

Bah I want Martha and Cas friendship stories now

YES! Ohgod, a harkstiel new!Torchwood story with Martha as a big part of it. That would be beautiful. Martha asking Castiel questions about the past with genuine interest and gentle humor. If she buys that he is what he says he is, she’d be fascinated with him, Castiel would sense it, and just open right up to her like a steamed clam.

I don’t know where I’m going with this but….:

Martha pulled up to the gas station. The day was oppressively humid and she was glad she’d had time to get used to the climate. In the seat next to her Mickey fidgeted with a gadget. “Yeah, this is it. There’s something going on here.”

“I’ll fill up.” Martha got out of the SUV and walked around to the pump. The only other car was something long, black and classic being filled by a tall guy with long hair. Classic rock could be heard from the open windows. That thing probably didn’t even have air conditioning.

The guy in the driver’s seat had noticed her looking and glanced her way. Brothers, if she had to hazard a guess. She gave him a small smile and looked back at the pump.

When things went sideways for Jack and he left, it was Martha that called him back to Earth. Seemed something big was brewing in the American Midwest and she knew just who to call for this one. Besides, maybe a couple of American boys could be good for him.

Martha as part of Superwho/Superwood always makes me happy. Sam and Martha would circle each other warily and then find common ground in their compassion, intelligence… and end up kvetching about feeling like they’ve always got to prove themselves to Oblivious People. They’d get on famously and end up with private jokes and wordless communication through sighs and eyerolls (which eventually includes Cas as well). This makes Jack snippily territorial of Martha’s attention and expertise on occasion. He gets revenge on Sam by regularly tweaking Dean’s ego, which inevitably means Sam has to wade in.

Though things smooth out, Dean’s suspicious nature (especially upon finding out Jack’s immortal) means Jack ends up working mostly solo, with Martha and occasionally Mickey acting as liasons to keep a relative peace.

Once they hit the Boss Level, however, everyone puts their bullshit aside. Dean and Cas save Jack’s ass, Jack takes a gutting for Sam and Mickey, and when it’s all over, Martha keeps everyone from stepping in Jack long enough for him to pull back together.

They all convene for burgers and beer.

It’s still Sunday! Ask or Submit your SuperWood, SuperWho or SuperWhoLock headcanons and I’ll post them.

Adventures in fandom:

So reclusiveq and I were at Barnes and Noble when I overheard the ladies in front of is talking about Doctor Who and how one had missed it. Me being me I had to comment.

And they were like “We saw your bag and liked it…and it matched your t-shirt.” At which point I remembered that my backpack has a Torchwood patch and I was wearing my Torchwood t-shirt.

We chatted a moment and they went in their way. The cashier said he liked marvel. At which point I pointed at Reclusive…who was wearing her Marvel tank and has a Winter Soldier star on her backpack.

Every first draft is perfect, because all a first draft has to do is exist.

Okay, so Doctor Who:

I watched Deep Breath twice yesterday. Overall I liked it. I’m kinda loving twelve so far, and I have nothing against Capaldi.

There were a few times when I said to the program “Moffat your Sherlock is showing.” And I think it could have been tightened a few places. I thought the cameo was unnecessary, but whatever.

I’m just still cautious after the clusterfuck that was Time of the Doctor. But if the rest of the season is this quality ill be pleased.

Also I liked the solidifying of Clara as a character (finally), and as a bonus this one passed the Bechdel test.
