I underrated The Beast Below massively. It is one of the best new series episodes. It is like Robert Holmes and David Whitaker writing for the Cartmel era, with a late rewrite by Douglas Adams.
I do not understand how there are people who do not just love everything about this episode of television.
I used to remember it as an okay-but-nothing-special episode, but that was until I rewatched it for the first time only this year. And it was brilliant, absolutely brilliant. The amount of character development for Amy, the amount of setting up of Eleven’s character, the amount of setting the tone for Moffat’s entire run?
Brilliant.
