Well from what I remember of CoE there was his partially burned up head right? And then a few remains/limbs. We weren’t given a heck of a lot of detail on it (thankfully, imo, it was gruesome enough) but I imagine his “regeneration” of sorts probably starts with the largest lump of tissue that’s left over. I WOULD GUESS that would be the head, if the head survived, but it could be anything depending on the impact. From there it starts to rebuild bone, tissue, nervous system, etc, connecting to any nearby tidbits if they still exist.
