SuperWood godparent? I’m trying to imagine what sort of responsibilities that would entail and all I can come up with are things involving sex toys and proper weapons handling.

…that sounds about right though….lol.

She’s Jack, I’m John and we’re on either side of you talking super seriously about gently stroking the trigger until you’re ready to fire.

Nobody is holding a gun.

Oh….oh dear…

Does that make me Gwen? Or Ianto?

Things to remember when writing

stopbeingbored:

1. There is such a thing as chapters. You don’t need to write everything. If your characters spend an uneventful two weeks, maybe it’s time to skip ahead to chapter two.

2. Perspective is important. Sticking to it is what makes writing so hard. I’m almost sure that character B’s inner thought processes are just as important as your main lead’s. But character B is not your main lead.

3. Characters have voices. Let them speak.

4. You can only pour so much of yourself into one of your characters before it starts to paralyse you. Split your personality. That’s what writing is.

5. Shitty first drafts. Shitty. First. Drafts.

6. Don’t get too lost in detail. Detail is but a mere detail to your story. Research is important, but research comes afterwards.

7. Get to know your characters, then let the reader get to know them as well. No need to summarise your main lead’s homesickness after the ocean, no need to let them talk about it for pages on end. If the breeze carries just a hint of salt with it, and their eyes start stinging quite unexpectedly, that might already be enough.

8. Show, don’t tell. Always. I know it’s hard, but reading a Tell, don’t Show is harder.

9. Remember that taking breaks is okay. Sometimes life is hectic. Breaks are not the same as giving up.

10. The reason that there is always a happy ending is because the story has to stop somewhere. Happy endings are important. If you can survive, then so can they. If they can survive, then so can you.

In case you didn’t click the buzfeed link earlier, this is 4 fantastic minutes of John Barrowman talking about how important marriage equality is to himself and Scott.

(now someone make a gif of him saying “I didn’t wake up one morning and go I think I’ll have eggs, bacon, coffee and I think I’ll be gay”?)

I think it is really important that he points out the difference between civil partnership and marriage. Everytime I approached administrative offices etc to ask about what we need for a civil partnership, if there is a possibility for face-to-face consultation about the differences (should we wait til we get equality or not?), I always got the answer “Sorry, we don’t do that, call back on the day you wand to get married.” It’s great that people accept that same sex couples are able to form an official union, but what unnerves me is the denial of still existence privilege of heterosexual marriage, by saying “Oh, it’s all the same.” It is not.

Oops just realized a typo – it was meant to be “call back once you know the day you want to get married.”

merindab replied to your post “I shouldn’t have gone to the rodeo. Now I want a Supernatural rodeo!AU…”

I…..would read this fic…. Of course I live in TX, so like, yeah… I’m just going to blame that….

Of course, you know me. I’d have Jack swan is as some epic bullrider who takes on the big fucking brahman bulls like Blowfish, Sleeper, and Abaddon (who completely pwned Sam and Dean) and had a really nasty showdown with that bull they just call 4-5-6 after he—well—we don’t like to talk about that.

Just so that Cas and Jack can have filthy (because they’ve both been rolled in the dirt less than an hour ago) sex in the back of someone’s pickup truck (not theirs).

At least I’m predictable?

Here you go Jazz, have some Jack/Castiel rodeo AU cowboy smut. Hope it’s any good:
