My understanding is that final draft is generally considered the industry standard in terms of programs. I haven\u2019t actually used it myself because I don\u2019t have a few hundred bucks to spend on software, but it\u2019s the normal one.<\/p>\n

Personally, I use the free version of Celtx, since I do not have much money and quite frankly need to get myself a job.<\/p>\n

As for formatting, there\u2019s a ton of books and stuff on that. I think the book I was using earlier this year was called The Screenwriter\u2019s Bible, but I haven\u2019t gotten around to looking through the entire thing yet so I can\u2019t attest to how amazing a guide it is. I don\u2019t really know what your best guide to that would be.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

If I could throw my two cents in? We\u2019ve used \u201cthe screenwriters bible\u201d in my screenwriting classes and it does have the most comprehensive formatting I\u2019ve seen. Celtx is good and yeah, final draft is expensive ( i was lucky and got it on discount). I think maybe scrivener has a screenwriting mode too, but I haven\u2019t used that.<\/p>\n

Probably the most important thing to remember when writing screenplay is that you don\u2019t necessarily want to \u2018direct\u2019. You can describe, but give the actors\/directors room.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

The BBC writersroom website also has some PDFs demonstrating a number of scripting formats.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Here is a link to the writersroom<\/a>. I like reading the Doctor Who scripts, heh. They also post various writing opportunities too.<\/p>\n

There\u2019s also the internet movie script database<\/a>, but the format isn\u2019t always 100% because it isn\u2019t in pdf form.<\/p>\n
