There are a couple of things about current shipping culture that confuse me. \u00a0<\/p>\n

1. The focus on whether or not a pairing will become canon as a reason people should ship something or not. \u00a0Do you not understand what the\u00a0\u201ctransformative\u201d part of\u00a0\u201ctransformative works\u201d means?\u201d<\/p>\n

2. This idea that saying\u00a0\u201cI ship that\u201d means\u00a0\u201cI think that, as presented in canon,this is a perfect, healthy relationship that everyone should model their relationship after.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

Sometimes shipping something does mean that. \u00a0Sometimes shipping something means\u00a0\u201cPerson A is a trash bag who doesn\u2019t deserve person B but I would love to explore how Person A might grow to deserve Person B.\u201d Sometimes it means\u00a0\u201cI want these characters to live together forever in a conflict free domestic AU.\u201d \u00a0Sometimes it means\u00a0\u201cI want Person A to forever pine after Person B. \u00a0Nothing is beautiful and everything hurts.\u201d \u00a0And sometimes it just means you like their faces and want to see Person A and Person B bone in various configurations and universes.\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Listen to your parents, kids. <\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

This really should be one of a handful of Public Service Announcements randomly and chronically inserted into one\u2019s dash.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

I understand the desire for a ship to become canon\u2013but even if it never does, that doesn\u2019t make it any less valid or meaningful.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
