#yup<\/a>#it\u2019s so hard to read published fiction now<\/a>#so much of it is just sooo baaad<\/a>#but like<\/a>#part of the gate keeper effect to publishing<\/a>#is that they don\u2019t get inundated with all these stories using similar tropes<\/a>#tropes don\u2019t get refined like they do in fanfiction<\/a>#published fiction ends up feeling cliche and clunky and incredibly slow<\/a>#where fanfiction works through every possible iteration of a trope or a technique in a matter of months<\/a>#and then comes back and turns old beloved tropes on their heads<\/a>#while published fiction is still floundering with the basics of something that fanfiction explored in depth years ago<\/a>#it\u2019s like when someone shows you a \u2018cool new funny meme\u2019 from fb<\/a>#and you\u2019re like<\/a>#that was on tumblr in 2007<\/a>#and it\u2019s not even a particularly good example of the meme<\/a>#it\u2019s a mediocre example at best<\/a>#from before the meme really got going and people got really imaginative<\/a>#that\u2019s how published fiction feels to me these days<\/a>#in comparison to fanfiction<\/a>#anyway<\/a>#tag talking<\/a>#fanfiction<\/a>#reading<\/a>\u00a0(via)<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
