The point I\u2019m trying to make is that there\u2019s no longer just one investigation. There\u2019s not two. There are multiple, distinct investigations tied to President Trump and, critically, they are being run either by different jurisdictions or entirely different parts of the Justice Department. There are plenty of paths to the President\u2019s and his family\u2019s undoing even if he manages, through whatever means, to decapitate the Special Counsel Investigation.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Trump\u2019s Widening Gyre of Investigations<\/a><\/p>\n

It is the most corrupt administration in modern history, and very likely will be the most corrupt administration in American history, when it is all finally uncovered.\u00a0<\/p>\n

I just hope that the political class sets aside its cowardly\u00a0\u201cwe must look forward blah blah blah\u201d bullshit that always lets criminals and their enablers get away with it, because there\u2019s no incentive to keep future criminals and their enablers out of government if they don\u2019t.<\/p>\n

Just look at the people who were involved in Watergate and Iran-Contra, who are not in jail where they should be, but are either still in government, or at powerful lobbying outfits, and ask yourself if the world would be a better, safer, less corrupt place if they were in prison where they belong.<\/p>\n

If Trump and his co-conspirators are not held accountable, and if we don\u2019t force the Congress to take real, meaningful steps to ensure that they are, we\u2019re going to eventually see someone in the White House or the Senate (they\u2019ll always be in the House, because of Republican gerrymandering) who is just as bad, if not worse, than Trump.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
