I saw a post the other day that literally said if you do it to a fictional character, you\u2019ll do it in real life.<\/p>\n<p>No. Just NO.<\/p>\n<p>I\u2019m so glad someone put it into words.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Lin-Manuel Miranda is a legend, and he\u2019s absolutely right.<\/p>\n<p>And I really feel like there are parts of fandom that don\u2019t get or <i>don\u2019t believe <\/i>this, and I think that\u2019s troubling.\u00a0 I\u2019ve seen arguments that people <i>shouldn\u2019t <\/i>have dark fantasies, or that bad impulses in themselves make a bad person.\u00a0 I\u2019ve seen so much shaming over <i>thoughts.<\/i><\/p>\n<p>And if you get to a point where it\u2019s bad to have dark thoughts and it\u2019s bad to wonder what something would be like and it\u2019s bad to put yourself in the shoes of anyone who isn\u2019t\u00a0\u201cpure\u201d, if fiction is no longer a realm where you can confront and explore, but an ongoing test of moral purity\u2026 well, maybe not everyone\u2019s brain works like mine, but I feel like that takes away something incredibly important to being human.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Purity culture is gonna kill art if y\u2019all let it.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>I think Stephen King also said something similar<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>athenagray: decepticonsensual: cleo4u2: THIS.
