They\u2019re both anxious around Sherlock. They\u2019re both inoffensive and fucking<em>adorable<\/em>ohmygod. <br \/><em>They both have a heart<\/em>. <br \/>No one is that good of an actor. The one thing you can\u2019t fake is a heart. <br \/>If he was heartless, Molly would be dead. She saw Jim\u2019s face, she was a liability. Why didn\u2019t he kill her? He\u2019d heard all Molly\u2019s stories, he knew she was important to Sherlock, if only a little, so why didn\u2019t he kill her? Why didn\u2019t he threaten her with the gunmen during Reichenbach? <br \/>I\u2019ll tell you why. Because Molly is lovely and he<em> cared about her<\/em>. He purposely excluded her from the threat because he didn\u2019t want to hurt her. <br \/>Even during their first meeting at the pool, Jim showed an unusual lack of self restraint \u201cTHAT\u2019S WHAT PEOPLE DO!\u201d. His face wasn\u2019t blank, it wasn\u2019t a pokerface like Sherlock\u2019s. He was expressive. He was emotive. He was <em>human<\/em>. <\/small><small><em>Jim has a heart<\/em>.<br \/>I think that on the roof during Reichenbach, Sherlock realised this. <\/small><small>He realised that Jim wasn\u2019t acting. <br \/>He realised what Jim <em>really<\/em> wanted: to not be alone; to find someone just like himself; to find\u00a0 someone not-ordinary. Most of all, he wanted that person to be <em>Sherlock<\/em>.<br \/>Sherlock saw the level of frustration and disappointment and, let\u2019s be honest, <em>sadness<\/em> on Jim\u2019s face when he thought Sherlock was stupid and ordinary, and when he thought Sherlock would jump to save his friends.<br \/>That\u2019s how he beat Jim. <br \/>The way he asserts himself on Jim, moving right up into his personal space. Think about it. He never does that. He\u2019s attacked people, usually in self defence, but never anything quite so personal, quite so intimidating. <br \/>He\u2019s risking John\u2019s life by doing this. He\u2019s risking the lives of all his friends and he doesn\u2019t care. In those moments, Jim is his primary focus.\u00a0 <\/small><br \/><small>But then, listen to his voice, listen to the things he is saying. <\/small><br \/><small>Ordinary people have hurt Jim, there\u2019s no doubt about that. <br \/>Sherlock is telling Jim that he isn\u2019t <em>\u2018one of them\u2019<\/em>. He isn\u2019t ordinary. <br \/>Sherlock isn\u2019t being cruel, he\u2019s being gentle. <br \/><\/small><\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p><small><em>We\u2019re just alike, you and I.<\/em><\/small><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><small> And they are just alike, apart from that one little thing that they don\u2019t have in common: <br \/>Sherlock is the good guy who doesn\u2019t have a heart, and it\u2019s his biggest weakness.\u00a0<br \/><\/small><small>Jim is the bad guy who <em>does<\/em> have a heart, and it\u2019s his greatest tragedy.<\/small><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>ilovemyskull: apoliceboxandadeerstalker: LITERALLY JUST SPAT OUT MY FUCKING SOUP You know what though Jim\u2019s little diguises &#8211; Rich Brook and Jim from IT &#8211; have one thing in common:They\u2019re both total sweethearts.
