It\u2019s out of character, and when John immediately picks up on that\u2014Sherlock half-interrupts\u00a0him with his ready rejoinder. Like he\u2019s making a point.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s not a strong enough parallel to make me think he\u2019s apologizing or correcting John\u2019s earlier disgust with his lack of human sympathy (or his choice not to express or indulge in that sympathy)\u2014 at least, I don\u2019t think the writers intended a parallel.
