Okay so imagine you ask somebody to tell you a riddle.\u00a0<\/p>\n

They turn to you and they say \u201cthe south pole.“<\/p>\n

You say \u201cwhat?”<\/p>\n

They just repeat \u201cthe south pole!“<\/p>\n

So you press them for some sort of explanation. They urge you to figure it out on your own, they say it\u2019ll be better that way. They give you an hour to figure it out.<\/p>\n

So you set to trying to figure it out, but every five minutes, they say something like \u201cyou still haven\u2019t gotten it? It\u2019s going to be great<\/em><\/strong> when you do!” or \u201cbut what do I mean<\/em><\/strong> by that?“ or \u201cdon\u2019t forget: the south pole!”<\/p>\n

And then, the hour\u2019s up, and you still have no idea what they mean.\u00a0<\/p>\n

“Okay, are you ready for this?” They ask you. You say yes, and they say:<\/p>\n

“Where can I build a house with four walls, all facing north?”<\/p>\n

And of course, you reply \u201cthe south pole.“<\/p>\n

Now, I imagine you\u2019re pretty unsatisfied. You feel like, if you had been given the riddle to begin with, you would have had a lot of fun trying to figure it out<\/p>\n

But instead, you were given the answer at the beginning, and it just feels like your friend just spent a full hour enjoying watching you squirm while you tried to figure out what the riddle was<\/p>\n

And that\u2019s the problem I have with how Steven Moffat constructs his seasons of Doctor Who<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n
