And I said, \u2018I\u2019m 29.\u2019 He said, \u2018Okay, so at the top of the shot, give me your War Face, the face that you\u2019ve been doing all day, you\u2019re winning, you\u2019re triumphant, you\u2019re a noble officer and it\u2019s all going well. And then I\u2019m going to say \u201cGuns\u201d and when you hear me say \u201cGuns\u201d, the camera will zoom in and I want you to de-age yourself by twenty years, so you\u2019re 29 and then you\u2019re nine. I just want to strip away the man and see the boy. Can I leave that with you?\u2019<\/strong> And I thought that was one of the most heartbreaking pieces of direction I\u2019d ever received \u2013 it was just so emotionally acute. In the middle of this great, grand, epic action sequence, with 120 horses going 40 miles an hour, he had the space, in his filmmaking head and in his heart for something very intimate and I thought it was amazingly impressive.\u201d<\/small><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
