The truth is I also fell into the horrific logical trap of assuming that just because Sherlock has arrested emotional development \u2013 his parents must be utterly eccentric, over medicated, psychologically unstable, adulterers who evidently neglected him something terrible. \u00a0<\/p>\n<p>What we all lacked was a sarcastic voice of reason to interject with a perfectly time \u201c<em>really?\u201d<\/em> and an elegantly raised eyebrow.<\/p>\n<p>The age old belief that parents pass their problems onto their children is definitely <em>true <\/em>but the way these problems manifest in children can be\u00a0<em>surprising and counter-initiative.\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<p>For a doctor who has been surprised too many times to actually <em>be<\/em> surprised \u2013 I really should have seen the Holmes parents\u2019 coming because actually they fit <em>perfectly <\/em>into Sherlock and Mycroft\u2019s background.<\/p>\n<h2>\u00a0<\/h2>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/wellingtongoose.tumblr.com\/post\/73024383458\/why-the-holmes-parents-are-perfect-for-sherlock\" target=\"_blank\">Read More<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Okay this is about sherlock and mycroft, but i can relate to this pretty hard with my own parents too.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>wellingtongoose: Analysis of Sherlock\u2019s parents and why their normality is vital in explaining how Sherlock became the man he is.\u00a0 The moment I saw them I had the sinking feeling that Mr and Mrs Holmes are irreparably wrong.
