Down, boy.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>I love it when Sherlock has those private little hot flashes.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Actually, I read this completey differently.<\/p>\n<p>To me, Sherlock\u2019s face in the last gif says guilt: <strong>he didn\u2019t realise John\u2019s danger addiction would veer so dangerously out of control in only one month. It\u2019s kind of like opening someone\u2019s top drawer expecting to find a joint, and finding it full of needles instead.<\/strong> John\u2019s just as addicted to solving cases as Sherlock is\u2026it\u2019s just easy not to notice that, because John\u2019s so much better at presenting a \u201cnormal\u201d face to the world.<\/p>\n<p>So to me, that last gif is Sherlock realising that while he was off playing the addict (sort of) to dupe Magnusson &#8211; and probably subconsciously punishing John at least a little bit for \u201cabandoning\u201d him by getting married &#8211; John was quietly getting more and more desperate for a fix. \u201cShit\u2026it\u2019s that bad? I didn\u2019t realise. I left him alone too long. My fault.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s a brave and intriguing thing Mofftiss are exploring with this version of Sherlock and John: they <em>both<\/em> keep each another\u2019s addictions in check. (Not just one-sidedly as in the canon, where Watson occasionally nagged Holmes about his drug use.) I only hope they\u2019re more skillful and consistent at handling it than they have been with John\u2019s PTSD.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Uf, Q, that bolded bit.
