The observations were of an intense scene, maybe dealing with deeply personal issues; John was moving out of Baker St, he was marrying Mary and not available to Sherlock any more…..it was all sad and angsty speculation. What did we get? A discussion of ‘bummage’, John’s previous ‘Commading Officer’ (hello bi-sexual military kink) and John calling Sherlock a ‘dickhead’.

Lesson learned for setlock Season 4!!!!!

Yeah, well, I see your point, but for me this scene is still pretty angsty and I feel very uncomfortable watching it. Because let’s face it. John Watson speaks about his expectations for the future after his wedding. That nothing between him and Sherlock has to change. And yet they both know that that’s not quite true. He mostly speaks about Mary who has changed his whole (miserable) life, and the moment when he finally gets his shit together and addresses Sherlock, his friend has already vanished. For all John cares Sherlock has run off like numerous times before when they were on a case. But for me it rather seems as if Sherlock couldn’t stand John’s monologue any longer. And John, as usual, doesn’t get it and falls back on insulting Sherlock. It’s all done quite funnily on the surface, but the deeper meaning behind this scene still makes me want to throw stuff.

I admit I have been one of those setlockers who dreaded the bench scene. And instead of feeling placated I find myself confirmed. It was in fact a conversation about John’s marriage and how it would affect Sherlock. John doesn’t seem to be very comfortable about what he is going to say, and as for Sherlock, nobody will ever convince me that he’s not deeply hurt. A relaxed chat between mates looks different to me.

constancecream: welovethebeekeeper: When setlock was occurring, the reports came in that Sherlock and John had been seen sitting on a bench in St James Park looking deadly serious.
