I wrote a birthday fic for 221b-bakingstreet<\/a>. It’s… a Kindergarten Cop AU. Kind of.<\/p>\n

Kindergarten Detective<\/a>\u00a0–\u00a0Kindergarten teacher John Watson finds the new teacher isn’t quite what he appears to be.<\/p>\n

John Watson spotted the new teacher as soon as he stepped into the lounge. Sherlock Holmes was staring at the communal coffee pot as if it were a beast about to bite him. Shaking his head, John walked over. \u201cMorning,\u201d he smiled. \u201cWould tea be better?\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cYes,\u201d Sherlock had a deep voice and eyes that seemed to take in everything.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ve got a kettle in my classroom. It\u2019ll be a few before the students arrive. I\u2019m John Watson.\u201d He grabbed a donut and led the way to his class. \u201cYou\u2019re the new kindergarten teacher, yeah?\u201d<\/p>\n

“Yes. Sherlock Holmes.” He looked around John\u2019s classroom as he filled the kettle and plugged it in.<\/p>\n

“How long have you been teaching?” Asked John.<\/p>\n

“Oh not long.” Sherlock watched the way he got everything together for the tea and produced two mugs. “You were army.”<\/p>\n

John looked down at his mug. “Was, yeah. Got invalided out, they were looking for more men in the field, seemed better than collecting a pension.”<\/p>\n

“I suppose that teaching would provide some focus and excitement.”<\/p>\n

John chuckled. “It\u00a0is\u00a0kindergarten. Not too many dull moments and it’s giving these kids a strong foundation.” He fixed the tea and handed the mug to Sherlock just as the first small child peeked her head in.<\/p>\n

“Good morning Charlotte. This is Mister Holmes, he’s teaching down the hall.”<\/p>\n

“Good morning Mister Holmes, Mister Watson.”<\/p>\n

John smiled. “Just bring the mug back whenever. Have a good day Mister Holmes.”<\/p>\n

“You as well Mister Watson.”<\/p>\n
