In the Winter Soldier, Sam said he would help \u2018Captain America\u2019 (Captain America needs my help. There\u2019s no better reason\u2026).\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Rewind to The First Avenger. Bucky said he wasn\u2019t ready to follow Captain America. He was going to follow Steve Rogers.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>I think this says a bit about how they each saw Steve. There\u2019s no doubt in my mind that both consider him a good friend (setting aside ships and the like), but Bucky didn\u2019t really know this \u2018Captain America\u2019 person. There was no way he could follow someone he didn\u2019t know back into the horror that he\u2019d somehow managed to escape from.<\/p>\n<p>Conversely, Sam knew who Captain America was, but he\u2019d only just met this person called \u2018Steve Rogers\u2019.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Maybe I\u2019m just reading too much into this, but it\u2019s an interesting contrast.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>reclusiveq: I was thinking of a comparison between bucky and sam.
