There are so many great things about <em>Megamind:\u00a0<\/em>anti-bullying, great female character, funny jokes, touching scenes, very detailed animation, super awesome music\u2026 The gif set above is probably my favourite thing, however: Nice Guy is the bad guy.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Yeah I\u2019ve kinda wanted to talk about this a lot.<\/p>\n<p>Megamind is the villain, the \u201cbad guy\u201d. She makes it clear that she doesn\u2019t want him. He respects it and walks off. It comes up a few more times but it\u2019s more of an \u201care you sure?\u201d or \u201cthats how it is\u201d than any sort of demand.<\/p>\n<p>Hal is the new \u201chero\u201d. His crush on Roxanne turns into an immediate \u201cYou love me now because I\u2019m a superhero!\u201d and when she makes it clear that she doesn\u2019t want him, his reaction is to tantrum, then destroy the city, inevitably killing people, and attempting to kill both Roxanne and Megamind.<\/p>\n<p>Hal\u2019s legitimately scary because women have to deal with behavior like his on a constant basis. Don\u2019t be a Hal. Be a Megamind. RESPECT THE \u201cNO\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Unrelated, but my other favorite thing, besides the whole \u201cvillain is a Nice Guy\u201d, is that Minion cross-dresses and Megamind is completely serious when he says \u201cyou look fantastic\u201d. Megamind is totally cool about his best friend cross-dressing and encourages it. That\u2019s very important.<\/p>\n<p>Roxanne also is the only character that moves the story along. All the other characters are having an existential crisis. Roxanne throws things and steps up first and is just a fucking queen.<\/p>\n<p><strike>Also I am like 200% convinced Megamind is bi. BUT THATS ME NOT OFFICIAL CANON although Dreamworks has like abandoned Megamind entirely so fandom says he\u2019s bi THE END fandom-canon is now canon fight me on this<\/strike><\/p>\n<p>Sometimes I think this movie came out a few years too early. Tumblr would have loved the shit out of this.
