I found it very interesting when in the \u201cbut I knew him\u201d scene where The Winter Soldier is being \u201crepaired\u201d,\"image\"Pierce tells Bucky:<\/p>\n

“Your work has been a gift to mankind. You shaped the century. And I need you to do it one more time. Society is at a tipping point between order and chaos. Tomorrow morning we\u2019re gonna give it a push. But if you don\u2019t do your part, I can\u2019t do mine. And HYDRA<\/strong> can\u2019t give the world the freedom it deserves.\u201d<\/p>\n

<\/em>Pierce tells this to a confused and broken Bucky, as if coaxing him with the idea of Hydra giving the world the \u201cfreedom it deserves\u201d as a means to get him to snap out of his slump and back to The Winter Soldier. \"\"When that doesn\u2019t work, he gets wiped.\"\"<\/em>Bucky\u2019s been brainwashed into The Winter Soldier for almost a century yet Pierce tells him this\u2026\"\"Why tell him this?<\/p>\n

Maybe\u2026for all these years, the brainwashing wasn\u2019t just about being the perfect weapon but tricking him thinking what he was doing was right thing?\"\"<\/strong><\/em>James Buchanan \u201cBucky\u201d Barnes\u2026the man who willing sacrificed himself for his best friend and his country\u2026\"image\"Could it be, this whole time\u2026<\/strong><\/em>\"image\"<\/strong><\/em>he was so unflinching in his role as the Winter Soldier simply because he thought he was being the hero?<\/strong><\/em>\"photoMaybe the tears in his eyes before being wiped\u2026\"\"<\/em><\/strong><\/strong><\/em>aren\u2019t only just for the confusion for his flashes of memory brought about by seeing Steve for the first time in seventy years\u2026\"image\"<\/strong><\/em><\/em><\/strong><\/strong><\/em>but the realization that by chance HE wasn\u2019t actually the hero\u2026<\/em><\/strong><\/strong><\/em>\"image\"He even had his own star\u2026<\/strong><\/em>\"image\"<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n
