Castiel looked down at the dusty, bedraggled Doctor with an impassive expression. \u201cMy people find you to be an interfering nuisance.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Doctor sat forward, bent over his gangling knees. A puff of fine chalky dust rose from his hair as he ruffled it. \u201cWell,\u201d he gasped, \u201cgiven that you\u2019re here and I\u2019m still not\u2026 whatever your people like to do to things like me\u2026\u201d he shaded his eyes and peered up over his glasses at the angel, \u201cyou must feel differently.\u201d<\/p>\n

“Jack likes you,” Castiel replied, cool.<\/p>\n

“Reckon you\u2019re not Jack.”<\/p>\n

“No.”<\/p>\n

“Well, that\u2019s a bit noncommittal for the fellow who just bent time to keep me from squishing like a grape.”<\/p>\n

Castiel squinted at the Doctor in disapproval. \u201cIf you\u2019re so insistent\u2014\u201d<\/p>\n

The Doctor bobbed his head. \u201cUsually, yeah.\u201d His humor was lost on the angel, who seemed in an even fouler mood for the interruption.<\/p>\n

“\u2014I tolerate you. With a significant level of personal control.”<\/p>\n

“Ah.” They regarded one another in silence for a moment, before the Doctor\u2019s eyes widened in recognition. <\/p>\n

“Ohhhh. You\u2019re *sweet* on our Jack!”<\/p>\n

Being found out clearly sat no better with Castiel than interruptions. \u201cAnd now that you have your answers, I expect you\u2019ll be in a hurry to leave. As usual,\u201d he snapped. The Doctor had time to make an appropriately puzzled face, before a dismissive wave of Castiel\u2019s hand saw him back to the controls of the TARDIS. Leftover force from the trip nearly took him to the floor all over again, but he snatched the edge of the console in time to steady himself.<\/p>\n

“Well, that was abrupt.”<\/p>\n

The TARDIS fizzed. The Doctor\u2019s rolled his eyes.<\/p>\n

“Oh, he was *not* right, don\u2019t you start in!”<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
