Would you like to hear it tonight?&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p><em>&ldquo;Yes, please, Father!&rdquo;<\/em><\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;All right. Well. Once Upon a Time, there lived a Consulting Detective &#8211; the only one in the world, in fact. His hair was curly and black as ebony, and some even said his skin was white as snow.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p><em>&ldquo;He sounds like you!&rdquo;<\/em><\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;Mmm. This Consulting Detective considered himself married to his work, until one day, a handsome Army Doctor came into his life.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p><em>&ldquo;Like Dad!&rdquo;<\/em><\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;Indeed. However, what the Consulting Detective\u00a0didn\u2019t know was that he was being watched by the Evil King of the criminal underworld. Every day, the Evil King would look into the internet and ask, \u2018Who is the greatest genius of them all?\u2019 \u00a0And every day, the answer came back, \u2018YOU are, my King.\u2019&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p><em>&ldquo;Just like Snow White\u2019s Evil Stepmother!&rdquo;<\/em><\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;Yes. And, of course, one day, the answer was different. One day, the internet answered, \u2018You are a great genius, my King, but, alas, there is one in the land who is far more clever than you.\u2019 \u00a0 The King called his henchmen and said, \u2018I want you to set traps for this man. And I want him to stop being clever. If he doesn\u2019t, I want you to burn him. Burn the HEART out of him.\u2019&rdquo; \u00a0<\/p>\n<p><em>&ldquo;That\u2019s horrible!&rdquo;<\/em><\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;And some time later, while the Consulting Detective\u00a0was working on a particularly messy and difficult case, he received a strange visitor at his flat.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormalCxSpMiddle\">&quot;It was the Evil King, asking if he could sit down and have some tea. \u00a0\u2019I have something for you,\u2019 the Evil King said. \u2018Look.\u2019\u00a0And there, stuck onto the end of a pocket knife was a large red apple.\u00a0 The Evil King had carved a design into it: I. O. U.\u00a0\u00a0\u2019I owe you,\u2019 the Evil King said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormalCxSpMiddle\">&quot;Soon after the Consulting Detective\u00a0held the apple, everything began to turn upside-down.\u00a0He was helpless to do anything as his image, his work, even his ability to protect his friends crumbled around him.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormalCxSpMiddle\">&quot;And then, very soon, he was falling\u2026falling very fast from a very high place.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormalCxSpMiddle\"><em>&ldquo;Did he die?&rdquo;<\/em><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormalCxSpMiddle\">&ldquo;It certainly appeared so. And when the faithful Army Doctor saw what had happened, he stood beside the Consulting Detective\u2019s\u00a0grave and wept. As strong as he was, the pain of losing his friend made him break down and cry. But the Army Doctor didn\u2019t know one very important thing: the Consulting Detective\u00a0wasn\u2019t really dead.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormalCxSpMiddle\"><em>&quot;He wasn\u2019t?&rdquo;<\/em><\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;No, Hamish.
