of you get any sort of enjoyment out of this is paramount to how low the bar is set when it comes to writing.<\/p>\n<p>There is nothing redeemable about the writing in this issue and you should be insulted not only as reader\u2019s but as feminist if you are one.<\/p>\n<p>This is 50 shades of grey bad.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Nothing redeeming? Oh I beg to differ. This is the funniest thing I\u2019ve read in a long time. My sides are in orbit.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Ok so I\u2019m well aware that I don\u2019t know anything about writing, so could someone please explain to me what\u2019s so bad about it? (if you\u2019re thinking \u201cbecause it\u2019s pandering\u201d then don\u2019t bother answering)<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Okay, so I\u2019ve only just got around to reading Thor: Goddess of Thunder #5 yesterday, because I was waiting to get the physical in my local Comic Book shop but I was busy that week (They ended up being sold out so I had to get the digital anyway) but I don\u2019t see the issue in this page?\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>I agree with the criticism that the story has gone away from being about her discovering herself and believing herself to be the Goddess of Thunder, to trying to enhance Thor\u2019s story line. However, I feel like it needs to be put into the wider context of the story as a whole.<\/p>\n<p>Thor has been a man for decades. That is the way, there are still a lot of nay-sayers out there who are angry and refusing to accept that Thor is now a woman. This is a running issue. We\u2019re seeing people telling her she\u2019s not really Thor. She\u2019s not \u201cLady Thunderstrike\u201d or \u201cShe-Thor\u201d. She\u2019s Thor, and that\u2019s what\u2019s being tackled in the story line.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>This criticism being said? It\u2019s the kind of criticism I\u2019ve heard from people outside of the female-friendly corner of Tumblr. They\u2019re asserting who she is in this one. Thor 2 and 3 were her issues of self discovery and assurance. Now, she has to prove herself to the world. Establish herself as the Goddess of Thunder, and The Odinson has to help her out on that one as well. We\u2019ve got Odin trying to kill her for taking up the role of a man, he\u2019s trying to belittle Freyja\u2019s rule and demolish her reforms. He can\u2019t handle a woman being in a man\u2019s rule! The Odinson is trying to help her out, and figure out who she is. I\u2019m hoping for a big pay-off on that one.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Now, I\u2019m not an expert on Thor. I haven\u2019t read God of Thunder, though I have all intention of doing so once I get Ultimate Back for the Holidays (Seriously, trying to do an art degree and have unlimited access to decades of comics and story lines? Not a good mix.) But I still expect to be excited to find out who she is, and why she\u2019s hiding her identity.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>And to compare this to 50 shades? I\u2019m quite frankly insulted by that! Just. How can you compare these two things???? How!! You\u2019re saying this is as bad as the romanticisation of Domestic Abuse? As bad as an full HD Imax smile? Or anything happening down \/there\/ with her Inner Goddess doing a tap-dance?<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0Sure, Thor Goddess of Thunder is no Ms Marvel. It\u2019s no Hawkeye &#8211; but it\u2019s not as awful as it\u2019s being painted as being! They\u2019re making sure that the world accepts her as Thor. That\u2019s going to take time but it\u2019s happening. I\u2019ve high hopes for Issue 6.
