Neil Gaiman: \u201cWe\u2019re working on seeing how many smart-alec answers we can come up with when people ask us how we collaborated.\u201d<\/p>\n

Terry Pratchett: \u201cI wrote all the words, and Neil assembled them into certain meaningful patterns\u2026 What it wasn\u2019t was a case of one guy getting 2\/3 of the money and the other guy doing ¾ of the work.\u201d<\/p>\n

NG: \u201cIt wasn\u2019t, somebody writes a three-page synopsis, and then somebody else writes a whole novel and gets their name small on the bottom.\u201d<\/p>\n

TP: \u201cThat isn\u2019t how we did it, mainly because our egos were fighting one another the whole time, and we were trying to grab the best bits from one another.\u201d<\/p>\n

NG: \u201cWe both have egos the size of planetary cores.\u201d<\/p>\n

TP: \u201cProbably the most significant change which you must have noticed [between the British and American editions] is the names get the other way \u2018round. They\u2019re the wrong way \u2018round on the American edition [where Gaiman is listed first] \u2014\u201d<\/p>\n

NG: \u201cThey\u2019re the wrong way \u2018round on the English edition.\u201d<\/p>\n

TP: \u201cBoth of us are prepared to admit the other guy could tackle our subject. Neil could write a \u2018Discworld\u2019 book, I could do a \u2018Sandman\u2019 comic. He wouldn\u2019t do a good \u2018Discworld\u2019 book and I wouldn\u2019t do a good \u2018Sandman\u2019 comic, but \u2014\u201d<\/p>\n

NG: \u201c\u2014 we\u2019re the only people we know who could even attempt it.\u201d<\/p>\n

TP: \u201cI have to say there\u2019s a rider there. I don\u2019t think either of us has that particular bit of magic, if that\u2019s what it is, that the other guy puts into the work, but in terms of understanding the mechanisms of how you do it, I think we do.\u201d<\/p>\n

NG: \u201cThere\u2019s a level on which we seem to share a communal undermind, in terms of what we\u2019ve read, what we bring to it.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n
