Just imagine after John\u2019s back home, but they still haven\u2019t sorted out their feelings yet, and Sherlock tell him one night that they\u2019re going out to dinner, and he should wear what Sherlock laid out for him on his bed. John thinks it\u2019s going to be something posh, but it\u2019s his oatmeal jumper and an old ratty pair of jeans. So he puts it on, and when he comes downstairs, Sherlock\u2019s wearing the greyish button down and the jacket he wore that first night, and Sherlock doesn\u2019t say anything so John doesn\u2019t ask, and then they go to Angelo\u2019s for dinner, and they get the candle and a bottle of wine, and finally John says, \u201cWhat\u2019s this all about, Sherlock?\u201d<\/p>\n

Sherlock looks at him and says, \u201cIt\u2019s the anniversary of the day after we met. And we came here, and you asked me if I had a boyfriend and I told you I was married to the work.\u201d<\/p>\n

John just stares at him, gnawing on his lip and waiting, and Sherlock says, \u201cCan we try again, John? I gave you the wrong answer last time.\u201d<\/p>\n

And John just breaks down, and pulls Sherlock to him, and kisses him and kisses him, and murmurs, \u201cI\u2019ve been waiting so long, so long,\u201d against his mouth.\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n
