Seriously. <strike>But nah, no homo.<\/strike><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>I love. Absolutely love the smile Sherlock gives John when John looks back at him in the hallway. There are metas about Sherlock smiling while John can\u2019t see him, and I think that starts around season two when Sherlock hides his smiles. ASiB and TRF. And maybe it\u2019s because he knows what\u2019s to come. Or maybe it\u2019s because\u00a0\u2018timing\u2019, but I think it\u2019s something we tend to forget, deep in Johnlock hell as we are, that they laugh together often. They get along so well because they\u2019re both inappropriate, both have dark senses of humor, and they\u2019re apt to cut loose when no one\u2019s there to see them. Like the couch scene in ASiB. Sherlock hides his smiles when other people are around. Like when John smarms Mycroft in ASiB and HLV. He\u2019s a little worse at hiding it in HLV either because he\u2019s high as a kite or he\u2019s been away from John for too long or both. Hides his smile when John chins the Superintendent and they\u2019re handcuffed together against the police car in TRF.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The truth of it all is Sherlock is a different person when he\u2019s alone with John. The only time he drops his guard in front of other people is at John\u2019s wedding when he\u2019s giving his best man speech. Frankly, that whole episode Sherlock can\u2019t seem to hold himself together. He\u2019s a fountain of feelings, an open book, and the speech wasn\u2019t calculated, but was showing Janine his dancing skillz? I don\u2019t know. He shows Molly, though, in the middle of TEH. And I do believe that Molly and Mrs. Hudson and Greg are exceptions if the timing\u2019s right. But even with Greg he\u2019s a bit standoffish. I think it\u2019s a front. Calling him the wrong name on purpose. Acting like he\u2019s not excited to see him after coming back to life in TEH.<\/p>\n<p>The point I\u2019m trying to make, I guess, is that our boys have a good time together, despite all the angst and pining. They laugh a lot, and probably often, and when they\u2019re alone they behave like teenage boys. Sherlock\u2019s not the only one that smiles like this when they\u2019re alone. The way John smiles when he goes to see Sherlock about being his best man. The way he smiles when he asks Sherlock if he\u2019s ready to face the press in TEH.<\/p>\n<p>We don\u2019t get a lot of scenes of them together alone sans\u00a0\u2018serious talk\u2019, like the whole Janine aftermath or John trying to talk about his feelings on the park bench. Or them going into battle. But even then they\u2019re pretty snarky.\u00a0\u201cDid you bring your gun as I suggested?\u201d\u00a0\u201cWHY WOULD I BRING MY GUN TO YOUR PARENT\u2019S HOUSE FOR CHRISTMAS DINNER?\u201d\u00a0\u201cIs it in your coat?\u201d\u00a0\u201c\u2026Yes.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>anotherwellkeptsecret: mi-caw-ber: castlesbuiltintheair-deactivate: Johnlock + are you sure you\u2019re not flirting (Part 7 \/ ?)
