It really did. It had one of the most human and fundamental plots there is.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Hero leaves home. Hero returns. See Odysseus for the most famous example of this.<\/p>\n<p>That\u2019s it. That George Miller didn\u2019t clutter that up with endless subplots and fart jokes doesn\u2019t mean it didn\u2019t have a plot. It means he understands plot and story arc better then most of the people in Hollywood today.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>And if you\u2019re reading this thinking,\u00a0\u201cbut Max didn\u2019t leave home\u2026\u201d then slap yourself. The Hero was Imperator Furiosa. Even Max understood that.\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>From my other blog which is becoming the place I stash all things post-apocalyptic.\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>It had the. simplest. plot. But that\u2019s why it was so much better than all the other action movies where twists and subplots and halfplots and\u00a0\u2018this makes no sense but it will look cool\u2019 types of scenes are crammed in until there\u2019s no room left for any logical and meaningful development.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>augh, yes!! \u00a0And right up there in the\u00a0\u2018slap yourself\u2019 category, insert\u00a0\u2018there was no character development.\u2019 \u00a0HONESTLY, did I see a different movie or something? \u00a0There were character arcs all over the damn place! \u00a0An astonishing amount of change was packed into about a 3 day story line. \u00a0<\/p>\n<p>What of Cheedo\u2019s change from a grief-stricken desire to return to the safe and familiar, to using her previously-known rep. to trick her former captors and give Furiosa a chance to get to the villain? \u00a0<\/p>\n<p>What of Nux discovering a completely different meaning of victory, of what it means to be human, of what it means to offer one\u2019s self as a sacrifice? \u00a0<\/p>\n<p>What of Max starting at\u00a0\u2018feral and without words\u2019 and going to \u2018I have the chance to help change the destiny of these people with the right quiet words at the right thoughtful time\u2019? \u00a0Not to mention his transition from victim of bodily theft to without-a-second-thought giver of his blood? \u00a0<\/p>\n<p>What of Splendid\u2019s full flowering into a warrior right before our very eyes? \u00a0<\/p>\n<p>What of the Vulvalini\u2019s decision to change their destiny from one of gradual extinction to deliberate sacrifice on the pyre of enabling the rebirth of their hard-held valuing of a life lived in freedom and abundance?<\/p>\n<p>What of Furiosa\u2019s transition from angry running-scared vengeance\u00a0\u2018He stole what was most precious to me, I will steal what is most precious to him\u2019 &#8211; to\u00a0\u2018I will join with my sisters and brothers to re-make a broken society into a whole one.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>DAMN, people, I\u2019ve seen epic SAGAS that didn\u2019t have this much character development!<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>redshoesnblueskies: malibujojo: becausedragonage: becausefallout: If I see one more thing about Mad Max not having a plot\u2026 It did.
