NASA just flew the New Horizons spacecraft by Pluto. PLUTO.<\/i><\/b>\u00a0<\/p>\n

We\u2019re going to have HELLA<\/b> pictures of Pluto very soon. <\/i><\/b>P. L. U. T. O.<\/b> <\/i>Even more HELLA<\/b> than the\u00a0\u201cteaser\u201d picture right before the flyby:<\/p>\n

LOOK AT THAT ADORABLE MOTHERFUCKER WITH A HEART ON IT AND EVERYTHING.<\/b><\/p>\n

You know where that picture was taken from? 476,000 MILES AWAY (766,048 KILOMETERS) <\/b>You know what the closest approach distance was for New Horizons? 7,800 MILES\u00a0(12,600 KILOMETERS) FROM THE SURFACE OF PLUTO.<\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

That\u2019s right. That means YOU AINT EVEN SEEN SHIT<\/i> YET, SON.<\/b><\/p>\n

It took us over 9 years<\/i><\/b> to get to our solar system buddy 31.9 AU<\/i><\/b> away.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Do you know how far away an AU is? 93 MILLION GODDAMN MILES<\/i><\/b> or 149.6 MILLION HOLY SHIT KILOMETERS<\/b>. Multiplied by over 30<\/i><\/b>. With a (dwarf) planet flying around in some CATAWAMPAS ASS <\/b>orbit.<\/b><\/p>\n

WE JUST HIT A DAMN NEEDLE IN A HAYSTACK AS LARGE AS THE SOLAR SYSTEM.<\/i><\/b>
<\/b><\/p>\n

Because of this distance, the New Horizons spacecraft will take 16 MONTHS <\/i><\/b>to transfer all the data from the encounter back to Earth.<\/p>\n

In conclusion:<\/b><\/p>\n

As IF<\/b> New Horizons wasn\u2019t cool enough, WE JUST RECEIVED WORD FROM THE SPACECRAFT<\/b> that it is A-OKAY.<\/p>\n

That means that the spacecraft sent us a message to say HEY EARTH SUP I PASSED PLUTO AND IT WAS AWESOME.<\/i><\/b> And then that message traveled FOUR AND HALF HOURS<\/b> through the vastness of our solar system to get to us. THAT ALL HAPPENED TODAY.<\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

And the best part? New Horizons called home to the Mission Operations Manager. THAT\u2019S RIGHT. It called home to MOM.<\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

I see you NASA, you clever motherfuckers.<\/i><\/b><\/p>\n
