I\u2019m going to try and explain why this really shook me, and I\u2019ll probably fail, but here goes: John\u2019s very secure in his sexuality. He\u2019s known he was gay since he was eight, and he grew up in a loving, supportive family. Yet he still fears that if he\u2019d stayed in a country where homosexuality was illegal for most of the first part of his life, that he wouldn\u2019t have survived.<\/p>\n

And that\u2019s why equal rights are so important.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n
