You guessed it, but you probably don\u2019t know what character has this gem. <br \/>Me: Pearl. <br \/>Kid: Ah! You\u2019ve answered all my questions, you must have the future vision of Garnet. <br \/>Me: I do. My girlfriend absolutely adores Pearl, we\u2019re basically a real life Ruby and Sapphire. <br \/>Kid: Really!?!?! You are Garnet!!! <br \/>Me: Yeah I suppose so. <br \/>Kid: Pearl is my favorite. <br \/>Me: Mine is Amethyst, in fact it\u2019s also my birthstone. <br \/>Kid: Pearl is the smartest, most perfect, prettiest, and best gem there is &#8211; if I was a girl I\u2019d marry her. <br \/>Kid: *laughs* I like the way you think. <\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>I thought it was the coolest thing that this boy found my lgbt relationship perfectly normal (especially since this was a religious function) and that he was so attached to this non-binary, identified female, lesbian character &#8211; it proves that Steven Universe isn\u2019t just effecting young girls (and us too, but I\u2019m talking about the target audience), but also teaching boys that like a female character is completely normal and that girls can be kick ass too. <\/p>\n<p>The effect this show is having on the younger generation makes me so happy. <\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>my favorite part of this is him saying\u00a0\u201cif i was a <i>girl<\/i> i\u2019d marry her\u201d<\/p>\n<p>this kid recognizes that Pearl has a preference for females and is not only okay with it, but <i>respects<\/i> it<\/p>\n<p>four for you, kid<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>death-limes: pearlmethyst-boops: This is a kid that I met when I was teaching Vacation Bible School at my church last week.
