Rogers\/Captain America\u2019s\u00a0<i>aunt<\/i>.<br \/>\nNow, I know that Ginger Rogers was a stage name, so I\u2019m thinking maybe she<br \/>\nwasn\u2019t Steve\u2019s dad\u2019s biological sister, maybe more an honourary aunt. Like the<br \/>\nlady next door who helped raise the kids, or your parent\u2019s childhood BFF.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>And she always liked the name \u2018Rogers\u2019 &#8211; nice,<br \/>\nsolid sounding name. So she used it for her stage name.<\/p>\n<p>She didn\u2019t like it<br \/>\nin the way that she wanted to be Joseph\u2019s wife &#8211; Joe was like a brother to her,<br \/>\nthat would be weird. Besides, Sarah was a super classy dame and sassy as a<br \/>\nspitfire to boot, and Ginger loved teasing her and calling her \u201cSis\u201d.\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=CCAU0-0a9nc\" target=\"_blank\"><br \/><\/a><\/p>\n<figure class=\"tmblr-full\"><img src=\"https:\/\/78.media.tumblr.com\/139455bc35297fc3f76024d1c1e083ea\/tumblr_njca232iUX1qzheh0o1_500.gif\" alt=\"image\" \/><\/figure>\n<p>Steven was born in<br \/>\n1920, and Ginger didn\u2019t hit the height of her fame until 1938. So in between<br \/>\nshe was just Aunty Ginny, who was away at dance classes a lot, and sometimes<br \/>\ndoing shows, but always had time to swing by the Rogers tenement apartment with<br \/>\nsome boiled sweets and some chatter.<a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=CCAU0-0a9nc\" target=\"_blank\"><br \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>When Steven was six, uncoordinated, gangly, still<br \/>\nunsteady on his feet, Aunt Ginny suggested she teach Steven to dance a little,<br \/>\nmaybe help out his coordination. And Joe, who had swept Sarah off her feet with<br \/>\na few well-placed dance moves taught to him by Gin, whole-heartedly approved.<\/p>\n<p>And it\u2019s not like<br \/>\nAunty Gin wasn\u2019t used to dancing with skinny little guys.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"tmblr-full\"><img src=\"https:\/\/78.media.tumblr.com\/7fd6b21605e335b56382d813947d0bf7\/tumblr_n6p8plLcmo1qicfexo1_500.gif\" alt=\"image\" \/><\/figure>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/scifrey.tumblr.com\/post\/128596882584\/aunt-ginger-rogers\" class=\"tmblr-truncated-link read_more\" target=\"_blank\">Keep reading<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>This is fantastic! &lt;3<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><figure class=\"tmblr-full\"><img src=\"https:\/\/78.media.tumblr.com\/9d6baf0154243386f189f5fe19980972\/tumblr_nodfcsg4pf1twyshko1_500.gif\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Ginger Rogers took her name from her mother\u2019s second husband, so he could be an uncle to Steve, (and Ginger his aunt by marriage) but Ginger was a star on Broadway when she was 19, in 1926, so that would have been a big deal &#8211; and by 1930 she was in Hollywood, and Ginger never danced with a partner before Fred Astaire and couldn\u2019t tap, she literally learned how as she went &#8211; Ginger always thought of herself as an actress who danced, not a dancer who acted, the proudest moment of her career was when she won an Oscar for Best Actress for a dramatic role, <i>Kitty Foyle<\/i>, she became a director at age 73.\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>OH! Thank you for all the corrections! Readers: Adjust your headcannons accordingly!<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>BUT, think of all the things you could add! Steve loves movies, and his aunt was a movie star! \u00a0Steve had a war bonds tour with the USO, and so did Ginger Rogers, (so maybe he wasn\u2019t certain about doing it, but she helped him through it) and Steve was out in Hollywood making Cap films before he went overseas. What does Steve think about all the pinups of his aunt in solider\u2019s footlockers? Maybe he gives Bucky the present of one of them autographed. but Ginger was smart and determined and fought for her rights, and strong (she was the only partner of Fred Astaire who never cried in exhaustion at the grueling dance rehearsals) .
