{"id":132159,"date":"2015-10-11T18:58:12","date_gmt":"2015-10-11T18:58:12","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.merindab.com\/private\/2015\/10\/11\/another-way-to-support-your-fandom-writers\/"},"modified":"2015-10-11T18:58:12","modified_gmt":"2015-10-11T18:58:12","slug":"another-way-to-support-your-fandom-writers","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.merindab.com\/private\/2015\/10\/11\/another-way-to-support-your-fandom-writers\/","title":{"rendered":"Another way to support your fandom writers."},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a class=\"tumblr_blog\" href=\"http:\/\/azriona.tumblr.com\/post\/130745663718\" target=\"_blank\">azriona<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>I\u2019ve been seeing a lot of posts lately about how fandom can<br \/>\nbe better to its writers. \u00a0They\u2019re all<br \/>\nwonderful posts, with lots of good things to say about the importance of not<br \/>\njust leaving Kudos, but also comments.<\/p>\n<p>And this might seem self-serving, but I\u2019m going to say it<br \/>\nanyway. \u00a0Right now, most of fandom is<br \/>\nlocated on Tumblr, and I think these posts are leaving out a very important<br \/>\nstep that\u2019s just as simple as hitting the Kudos button. \u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Reblogs.<\/p>\n<p>I cannot tell you how many people who commented on Mise said<br \/>\nthat the reason they read it was because they saw it appear so many times on<br \/>\ntheir dash. \u00a0And I can\u2019t tell you how<br \/>\nexcited it makes me to see it appear on my dash because someone else is talking<br \/>\nabout it. \u00a0Honestly, sometimes I think I<br \/>\nget more thrill out of being on someone\u2019s rec list or seeing someone else<br \/>\npromote my story than I do from getting that Kudos email.<\/p>\n<p>(I do love that Kudos email, though, don\u2019t get me wrong.)<\/p>\n<p>I feel like this used to happen more often. \u00a0Even a year ago \u2013 I\u2019d see the reblogs of \u201cNew<br \/>\nChapter\u201d posts for stories I followed before I\u2019d see the original post. \u00a0And it was great, because I\u2019d see the excited<br \/>\nsquee of other readers and that would in turn get <i>me<\/i> excited to read, and then I\u2019d jump in even more excited than I<br \/>\nwould have been otherwise. \u00a0These days\u2026<br \/>\nyeah, not so much. \u00a0I can\u2019t tell you the<br \/>\nlast time I saw a reblog of a story I followed.<br \/>\nOr a story I didn\u2019t follow, honestly.<br \/>\nI\u2019m not sure what changed.<\/p>\n<p>Here\u2019s the thing: just like with artists\u2026 if you \u201clike\u201d that<br \/>\nart post, only the artist will know. \u00a0<i>But if you reblog it, then you\u2019re giving<br \/>\nsomeone else a chance to like it too<\/i>.<\/p>\n<p>Want to support your favorite fandom writers? \u00a0Want to make sure they get all the love and<br \/>\nattention they deserve? \u00a0Then <i>reblog<\/i> their story announcements. \u00a0<i>Share<br \/>\ntheir stories<\/i> on Tumblr or Twitter. (AO3 even has a handy little button that lets you do it super easy.) It takes all of a minute to do &#8211; less, in some cases. \u00a0<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>You don\u2019t have to be a fic rec blog to tell your flist you like a fic, and that they should read it too.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>I don\u2019t know about other writers, but I track both janto321 (my ao3 name) and merindab (my blog name) so if you tag either of them \u00a0I\u2019ll most likely see it.
