Richard and Robert are English names originally, and for a while, rhyming slang was a quite common in Cockney English. Basically it\u2019s just nicknaming shit with random words that rhyme with it. So you\u2019d call the stairs\u00a0\u201capples and pears\u201d or the telephone the\u00a0\u201cdog-and-bone\u201d. So as Rick is slang for Richard,\u00a0\u201cDick\u201d became slang for\u00a0\u201cRick\u201d because, well, it rhymed. Same goes for Rob and Bob. This construction has all but fallen out of use, and Dick and Bob are the final hangers-on of this weird little trend.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>OHHHHHHHH.
